In Rijeka in Croatia there is a long time traditional “Karneval” sometimes known as the “maskare”. So no matter where you come from, there is a great tradition of wearing face masks.
All over the world for hundreds of years people have enjoyed Carnivals, and attended masked balls. We all call it by the same name, just in our own language.
You have the Masquerade face Mask and you need something to go with it – a Masquerade Ball Costume! What about this stunning ball gown. There is something very special about wearing Mardi Gras masks, just use the one you wore down in New Orleans last February! It’s perfect for a ball or carnival.

In Rijeka the story goes that the Mayor gives the Carnival leader the keys to the city, thus entrusting the city into the hands of the “spirit” of Carnival. Sounds a bit risky to me!
There are lots of different celebrations held, the main one being a masked procession which takes place on the last Sunday of the celebrations.

In Cyprus a carnival is on the go for about 10 days. Some party! It’s been celebrated for hundreds of years, and the islanders dress up and hold masked balls.
Alternatively, they dress in fancy dress and go around their friends houses. It’s understood to trace it’s conception back to the time when the island was under Venetian rule. The costumes are always so colourful.

The largest celebrations are held in the town of Limassol. In Cyprus during the first day of the carnival, they have a “King” he can be an effigy or a real human being! The streets are crowded with hundreds of people, who walk along beside the parade.
